What is Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy?

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy draws on the concepts and theories of psychoanalysis to help you understand and resolve problems by increasing awareness of your emotional world and its influence over relationships and experiences, both past and present. It differs from other therapies and counselling in aiming for deep seated and lasting change in personality and emotional development, and can be effective in resolving issues relating to depression and anxiety, relationships, trauma, abuse, life transitions, unexplained medical symptoms, bereavement and loss, and low self-esteem.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists have completed extensive training over many years, and are bound by the British Psychoanalytic Council’s code of ethics and committed to upholding its high standards.
